Dating: That
state of being wherein a woman doesn’t
have a steady boyfriend, but is casually
looking for one, or thinks she is at least.
Now that we have the terminology down, I’d
like to tell you a little bit about myself.
I’m Jena, and I’m a 30-year-old
single woman. I live and work in Springdale,
and come down to Dickson Street strictly
for play time. I have some great friends
who often join me. I’m sure you’ll
hear about them as we go along. I plan to
take you on some truly interesting (ooh,
I feel another definition coming on) dates
and to some hilarious girls’ nights.
Interesting: An
adjective that describes anything that
isn’t
boring, from the very good to the very bad.
I’ll be attending social events and
shows, going to karaoke nights or live music
venues, and simply hanging out in the singles
joints. I’ll be going dancing and out
to eat. Anywhere that singles go, I’m
going to be there, reporting to you, my (hopefully
soon to be) loyal readers, on the success
of the singles scene in Fayetteville. I’ll
be trying out new tricks for meeting men,
and I’ll be relying on some of my old
faithful “tricks of the trade.”
Tricks of the trade: Those
things I’ve tried in the past which obviously don’t work,
or else I wouldn’t be here, writing a singles column, at
age 30. These tricks include, but are not limited to, looking bored
in public, avoiding eye contact with attractive men, and pretending
to be disinterested. Seriously, I’ve tried all of that.
Please check in weekly with me to see what my crazy friends and
I are up to. There are lots of events still coming up, and I
plan to attend as many as I can. And you can really find out
where the men (or women) are in Fayetteville!
