Isabel Rodriguez's Artist’s Statement
![]() |
Artist Statement I fell in love with American Art because while it looks to the Old World for guidance it is always innovative, captivating, and looking to break new ground. It is within this American spirit of freedom, of expression that I find my creative core. As an artist, I attempt to follow this spirit by giving my audience a shared sense of my fondest memories. Biography I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a young woman I would often travel to see original art in various museums. From the study of every stone and monument in Cairo, Egypt; to traveling through Europe, I was exposed to more art than I could expect in my childhood. I also draw some of my inspiration from my time living in Vancouver, Canada. This experience gave me the opportunity to see great works of Canadian Art, Jean Paul Riopelle in particular. My most recent show was in North Vancouver, Canada, in 2006. Before this event, I participated in six group shows in the late 90’s, in Caracas, Venezuela and Bogotá. While in Venezuela in 1992, I won an Honorable Mention Award for my work in 1992 at FMO Foundation. |
