Dorothy Reif Artist’s Statement
|
I Transform my impressions on canvas through feelings which are very elated emotions when I see nature and its compositions, colors, textures, and the rhythm and patterns that are there for me to play with. The design of flowers, the colors and patterns skies, and the richness of soil are what excites me most and plays a large role in enabling me to enhance the subject matter. I love the art of the Impressionist and I like to paint somewhat in their tradition. My paintings are of scenes I see around Fayetteville, the lake areas, and when traveling. People find my paintings to bring a feeling of nostalgia to them, as they are familiar images of scenes around us. I intend to do many more paintings of lakes -- the next to be of Lake Wedington. I do both small and large work.
